You pose an interesting question. Sadly, I think there would be a race to the bottom among all those ambitious Republicans (Hawley, Cruz, McCarthy, etc.), seeking to inherit the mantle of the departed and appease the party's base. This would allow the people like Greene and Gaetz to continue to flourish, although they will never gain party leadership. Those hoping to see a purging of the Trumpists, or a breaking away into a separate party are in for a disappointment. Republocan strategists know that the Trump base comprises at least a third, probably half of their support. Alienating them will only guarantee election losess for decades to come, Once you've made a deal with the devil, there is no going back.
